We’ve got problems.
Time for Real Change.
Elect Julia Brim-Edwards as Multnomah County Chair.
Dear Neighbors,
I believe we all want the same thing for our home community: a safe, affordable, and thriving place to live.
Multnomah County has big problems, both as a community and especially as a government. Multnomah County needs a proven effective leader to rebuild trust, get the County on the right track and bring about real change. That’s why I am running for the County Chair.
When I announced that I was running for chair, the response to my announcement was heartening. And the momentum is building, I have received hundreds of endorsements from the Oregon Nurses Association to the Ironworkers in Local 29, from the Gresham Chamber of Commerce to every Mayor in Multnomah County. (Check out the endorsement tab on this page for the full list.)
The Oregonian had this to say about my candidacy:
"Brim-Edwards…. has been a consistent agent for change at the county, often pushing for more accountability and transparency in how the government operates. …
"Brim-Edwards has notched multiple policy wins in her time on the board, championing the effort to construct a new 24/7 sobering center, advocating to expand shelter beds, protecting the county’s school-based mental health program from cuts last year.
With life’s basics more expensive and a struggling local economy, I will work with labor and business for more good jobs with benefits so we can all thrive.
We know every day, people are struggling in our community. As chair, I’ll act with urgency, connect more people struggling with mental health and addiction to treatment, services, and housing.
And you can count on me to stand up to the Trump administration and fight back against the attacks on healthcare, food assistance, fair elections, local jobs, and our immigrant neighbors.
In the months ahead, I hope I have a chance to hear from you about your ideas, concerns, and thoughts about how we can make Multnomah County a place where we all want to live, work, raise a family, start a business or retire.
As we head into the fall, I look forward to our paths crossing and hope to earn your support to be the next Chair of Multnomah County.
Julia Brim-Edwards
News Release:
Julia Brim-Edwards Will Run for Multnomah County Chair
Brim-Edwards has been Multnomah County’s strongest, most effective agent for accountability and change.
Julia Brim-Edwards today announced she is running for Multnomah County Chair, saying, “I'm running because the County needs a proven, effective and collegial leader to rebuild trust and get the County on the right track.”
“Multnomah County has big problems, both as a community and especially as a government,” said Brim-Edwards. “As soon as I joined the Commission, I disrupted the status quo, pushed for change and more accountability to drive improvements; reducing unsheltered homelessness, increasing access to housing, ending street encampments, and more effectively managing our funds. At the County, leadership and effective management from the Chair is the best way to drive the significant change our community expects, and that’s why I am running for Chair of Multnomah County.”
